The Problem:
Prevail’s client, an international mining company operating in Mexico, was losing $600k per day due to a site blockade, precipitated by the publicising of private and fraudulent payments made to local community influencers.
Client management risks included not just mounting operating losses, but also kidnap & ransom threats.
The Solution:
Prevail established a UK-based intelligence fusion cell and despatched a on-site security advisor; within two days, the fusion cell had identified key protagonists and as well as wider stakeholders and influencers who could help mediate. While negotiations were ongoing, Prevail instituted an emergency response plan for the client, including personnel evacuation contingencies. We supported the client with strategic decision-making to restore community and national government relations and purge the company of internal fraud
